This is the newsletter of the Balanced Economy Project.

We are a new non-profit organisation, founded in 2021, whose mission is to tackle monopolies and excessive concentrations of market power, worldwide, using competition policy as the prime (but not the only) tool. We support democracy and healthy competition and oppose harmful forms of competition.

We focus on countries outside the United States (where a powerful anti-monopoly movement already exists). We do not accept private corporate funding.

Our two co-founders are Michelle Meagher, a (recovering) competition lawyer, and Nicholas Shaxson, a financial journalist and campaigner. Read more about us here.
